The 4-year-old daughter of former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson died Tuesday (May 26, 2009) after a freak accident in a treadmill at their home in Phoenix, Arizona. Police said the girl, Exodus Tyson, was pronounced dead around noon, a day after the incident.
Police said the girl, who was described as “smart and sweet” was playing alone on a treadmill when she either slipped or put her head in the loop of a cord hanging under the console. “It’s kind of a loop.. Either she slipped or put her head in the loop, but it acted like a noose,” said a police investigator.
Exodus was later found by her 7-year-old brother who was watching TV at that time. Exodus was already unconscious from the cord looped around her neck. Exodus’ mother, who was cleaning their house that time, called 911 and tried to revive her. Responding paramedics rushed her to the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center where she had since in critical condition since Monday.
Reports say Tyson, 42, was in Las Vegas at the time of the accident.
