A nurse died within two hours of giving birth after an epidural anaesthetic was mistakenly fed into her arm instead of her back, an inquest heard yesterday.
Mayra Cabrera, 30, suffered a fatal heart attack after being given Bupivacaine during the birth of a healthy 8lb baby, Zachary, at the Great Western hospital in Swindon, Wiltshire, in 2004. It is understood there have been two deaths in UK hospitals in the last decade as a result of wrongly administered Bupivacaine epidurals.

Now, her husband has been told to leave UK because his wife was no longer working in the country.

Arnel Cabrera said he was told wife Mayra had been killed by a rare complication and only discovered the truth a year later.
‘I was very angry that I had been lied to for so long about how she died,’ he said in a statement to her inquest.
But now, he faces deportation back to the Philippines because the couple were only allowed to stay in the country while she was working as a nurse – at the hospital where she died.

Medical error in UK? my goodness how come they do that knowing a high tech counrtry can commit crime like that. Tha means their medical people should be replaced with Filipinos.
