Philippine Congress bombing kills Muslim rep; Al Jazeera says it was ‘assasination’

A bomb exploded at the Philippines House of Representatives on Tuesday killing congressman and former Basilan governor Wahab Akbar and his driver. This was the second bombing incident in Philippine capital amid political turmoil surrounding the impeachment of President Gloria Arroyo. Last month, an explosion ripped through a mall, killing 11 people.

Injured lawmakers were Negros Oriental Rep. Pryde Henry Teves and Gabriela party-list Rep. Luzviminda Ilagan.
