Described as “beautiful and young”, PO1 Maryjane Monton of the Cavite police was found bleeding to death inside her room on Oct. 18. It was Thursday, 10:30 pm, when her parents and sister heard a gunshot inside their house. They rushed to her room, and there she was found lying in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound on the left side of her head.
Monton, of Bgy. Bacao, Gen. Trias, Cavite, died while undergoing emegency treatment at the St. Martin Hospital in Noveleta.

Was it a suicide?
According to the People’s Journal, there was talk that Monton committed suicide because of a scandalous video allegedly involving her and a high-ranking police official that had begun to circulate in the province.
The PJ article reports:
“Police officers at the provincial police headquarters at Camp Pantaleon Garcia in Imus, Cavite received a copy of a video showing Monton having sex with a high-ranking police official. Monton was later moved to the Rosario police while the unidentified official reportedly went abroad to escape the heat from the controversy. “
According to the Journal, Monton worked at the Intelligence unit of the Cavite provincial police office as the personal secretary of Supt. Leo Francisco, Chief of Special Operation Group.
But Supt . Gregorio Evangelista, Gen. Trias police chief, reportedly denied the existence of the scandalous video, saying investigators were looking at the possibility that she may have fired her service firearm “accidentally.”
