The Taliban in Afghanistan has executed a 15-year-old boy accused of being an American spy — just because he was found in possession of a US dollar bills.
The boy, named Zainullah, was hanged from an electricity pole on Sunday in the Sangin district of the southern province of Helmand and the five US $1 dollar bills earlier found in his pocket was stuffed into his mouth.
But Mohammad Wali, chief of the Sangin district, said the boy was neither spying for foreign troops or the US-backed Afghan government. He said:
“He was just a kid… Taliban simply hanged him because they found a five-dollar note in his pocket.”
Taliban warned villagers that they would face the same punishment if they were caught with US dollars.
