DZMM Radio reports that around 200 communist guerillas raided a police station in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, taking off with several firearms.
The rebel attack took place at around 1:30 pm. Two policemen were wounded in the exchange of gunfire.
The raiders arrived in three trucks, a van, and a pick-up. Taken from the police armory were an M-16 rifle, a 9mm pistol and a .38 caliber revolver.
The rebels belonged to the New People’s Army, the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines.
