The sight of Iraq Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad holding hands in public during the Iraqi leader’ visit to Iran has President Bush getting jealous.
During his visit, Maliki got a pledge from Iran — one of America’s Middle East headaches — of “Tehran’s willingness to help Iraq solve its security problem.”
Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reportedly told Maliki that:
“Iraq’s biggest problem is the presence of American forces there… The occupying forces should leave Iraq and let the Iraqis decide about their own faith.”
Bush, who thought Maliki was his friend, said in a White House news conference:
”If the signal is that Iran is constructive, I will have to have a heart to heart with my friend (Maliki) the prime minister because I do not believe they are.”
Bush is jealous that Maliki appears to be sleeping in another bed — that of his enemy.
The biggest problem in Iraq is America.
