What’s wrong with wearing a Hello Kitty arm band? Nothing really, except if you’re a bad ass, macho policeman and you have a pink Hello Kitty around your arm.
In Thailand, the police chief announced that police officers who violate rules on littering, parking and even those who come in late for work will be shamed by forcing them to wear the pink arm bands as punishment.
Says Police Col. Pongpat Chayaphan:
(Hello) Kitty is a cute icon for young girls. It’s not something macho police officers want covering their biceps.
This ’shame tactic’ may also work in Manila. Wait till Mayor Lim learns about this.
