Found via Digg: 8 Targets in Prison Masturbation Cases
A Florida inmate convicted this week of masturbating while alone in his jail cell is reportedly only one of eight targets—along with state taxpayers—of what a Miami Herald columnist describes as “a spectacular case of selective prosecution.”
One of those convicted was Broward County Jail inmate Terry Lee Alexander, 20,who received an additional six months sentence for masturbating in his cell last November.
Alexander’s defense attorney, Kathleen McHugh, said the crime of masturbation was ridiculous, saying “her client did nothing wrong, he was alone, and his cell, tantamount to his home, is not open to the public.”
Sun-Sentinel quotes her:
“Has it been a slow year in crime that they’ve got to go prosecute masturbation in the Broward County Jail? Aren’t there more heinous crimes to prosecute, like drug trafficking or sexual predators?”
Fred Grimm of the Miami Herald wrote that the inmates were being prosecuted for doing what millions of others are doing in jails, boarding schools, seminaries and military barracks.
Grimm even writes, insinuating that even judges masturbate:
And who knows what goes on underneath those flowing black judicial robes.
A little research by PinoySpy revealed that in Oklahoma, a county district judge was actually found guilty of masturbating and using a penis pump while on the bench.
Jurors and others in Judge Donald Thompson’s courtroom kept hearing a strange whooshing noise, like a bicycle pump or maybe a blood pressure cuff. During one trial, Thompson seemed so distracted that some jurors thought he was playing a handheld video game or tying fly-fishing lures behind the bench. [The Law]
