PINOYSPY NEWS SERVICE (PNS) – One of the more important highlights in President Macapagal Arroyo’s State of the Nation Address was that she reiterated that Paracetamol only costs P1 (one peso) in the Botika ng Bayan.
Sadly, this fact was not even given importance by mass media, when this is a very important piece of information for poor people because the poorest among Filipinos use Paracetamol to treat any kind of disease believing in the saying, “Lagnat lang yan.”
To quote the President’s SONA:
Ang paracetamol na tatlong piso sa labas ay piso lamang sa Botika ng Barangay.
In this statement, President Macapagal Arroyo stressed the fact that for only P1 (one peso), you could buy Paracetamol in the Botika ng Barangay, instead of paying three times that price in drug stores.
How many Botika ng Barangay are there?
GMA: … sampung libong Botika ng Barangay ang nagtitinda ng murang gamot.
How about antibiotics?
GMA: Ang antibiotic na binibenta ng mga pangunahing parmasya sa P20 ay P2 lamang.
President Arroyo said based on surveys…
Halos kalahati ang nagsabing abot-kaya ang gamot, kumpara sa 11% noong 1999.
President Arroyo, however, was silent on the price of loperamide (generic name for brands such as Immodium), which is used for relief of diarrhea or LBM (loose bowel movement or ‘pagtatae’).
Loperamide is important because most Filipinos get LBM after eating street foods. President Arroyo herself was struck by diarrhea earlier this year.

Erap did just that. Wherever Jinggoy go, it’s like free beer to everyone. Then our economy when down, SSS and GSIS went bankrupt, and the peso went up to 55/$. Those who retired those years during erap time had to wait 8 months to get their retirement benefits. Ouch, wake dude, you can’t run a country sleeping.
