1. Some aircraft although may look very old are serviceable and working. There is no doubt that many people will have doubts about 10+ yr old aircraft because there is a tendency to compare it with other inexpensive, less durable machines such as cars, computers and other household devices. Such thinking is based on the idea of wear and tear, however, that is not the case for aircraft as it is for ships.

3. There is no doubt that the philippine airforce does look so pitiful that it cannot buy it’s own aircraft. It’s effectivity as a defense force is being questioned by many, as of this writing, if we check global security websites, the PAF does not even have any effective interceptor aircraft since it retired it’s F-5’s. What can the PAF do in case some crazy terrorist got hold of a MIG29 or SU27 and flew it in Philippine airspace? can they shoot it down with? With what? a squadron of OV10’s? a Squad of S211’s?
Or are they gonna borrow Lucio Tan’s private jet and arm it with sidewinders? Funny isn’t it. Such a hole in our airspace. If not for our multilateral agreements with other countries, we’d be flyby zone right now.
