In San Pablo City (Philippines), a 32-year-old nursing student was found dead – slashed in the neck and pants pulled down – at the back of her house in Brgy. San Gabriel on Sunday.
The victim was identified by police as Nerlita dela Paz, a 3rd year nursing student at STI College in San Pablo City.
Police immediately picked up and detained her cousin Benzon Mendoza, 24, who reportedly confessed to the crime.
According to reports, Mendoza killed Dela Paz because she refused to give him scrap GI (galvanized iron) roofing. Mendoza told police he was enraged when the victim started cursing him after rejecting his request for some “yero”.
Mendoza admitted he dragged the victim to the back of her house where she stabbed and slashed her on the neck.
Dela Paz’s body was found by her sister the next morning.
Police believed the victim was raped because her pants and underwear were pulled down.
