A passenger tricycle driver was shot in the penis on December 28 in Valenzuela City, when he tried to stop robbers who were fleeing from a heist in a noodle factory.
The victim was identified as Manuel Viterbo, 29, of 4244 Orosco St., Purok 4, Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela City. He was declared out of danger at the Valenzuela City General Hospital, but police did not say if his penis was alright.
Police investigators said the incident took place at 10:30 a.m. outside the Metro Sotanghon Factory in Sitio Malabon.
Investigation showed three men entered the factory office and declared a holdup. They took the company’s earnings amounting to P150,000, a bag belonging to office secretary Maria Nelce Nuqui containing P30,000, a cellphone and other valuables.
As the robbers fled, Nuqui shouted for help. Viterbo, who was passing by the area, heard the commotion and attempted to block the robbers. One of the robbers, identified as Cesar de Torres, 20, of Rosario, Batangas, then shot Viterbo in the groin, and hit him in the penis.
A police chase ensued. De Torres was caught when he ran into a barangay tanod checkpoint. Recovered from him were two .38-cal. revolvers, ammunition, P26,400 in cash, and Nuqui’s cellphone.
