A new energy drink called ‘Cocaine‘ has hit the market and created a buzz. It claims to be a legal alternative to cocaine and is 350 percent stronger than Red Bull, the energy drink that’s also being called “liquid cocaine” by some drinkers.

‘Cocaine’, manufactured by Redux Beverages in Las Vegas, has created a buzz because of its brand name, which of course is the name of the illegal narcotic. The brand name itself is a selling point.
But does it really contain cocaine? Apparently, the brand name is deceptive.
From the ‘Cocaine’ FAQ:
Does Cocaine contain cocaine? No, we don’t advocate drug use. What you do with your drink is completely up to you!
The “kick” was supposed to come from its content of 280 milligrams of caffeine.
So why Cocaine, when it’s really caffeine?
“I think we’re seeing a resurgence in the marketing-by-controversy approach, between this and Survivor: Racist,” writes EvilBeet.
The company has put up a dealers’ page, for those who want to be Cocaine dealers.

Apparently, it’s also targetting the younger crowd via MySpace.
It also suggested some concoctions for Cocaine:
We do not technically advocate the mixing of Cocaine with alcohol, but if we did here’s what we’d try (and for a little fun what we’d call it!):
Liquid Cocaine - Vodka, White Rum, Triple Sec, Cocaine
Cocaine Smash - Vodka, Cranberry, Cocaine
Cocaine Blast - Vodka, Triple Sec, Grapefruit, Cranberry, Cocaine
Cocaine Splash - Vodka, Triple Sec, Grapefruit, Cranapple, Orange, Cocaine
Cocaine Thriller - Vodka, Rum, Triple Sec, Southern Comfort, Cocaine (splash of Grand Marnier)
Cocaine Shot - Shot of Vodka, Cocaine and Powdered Sugar
Cocaine Snort - Shot - Tequila, Cocaine and Salt
Jagercaine - Shot of Jagermeister followed by 2 oz Cocaine shooter
Mexicaine - Tequila, Cocaine, Grenadine followed by 2 oz Cocaine shooter
SchlagerCaine - Shot of Goldschlager
Cocaine / Apple Tini - Apple Vodka with splash of Cocaine and twist of Lime
Reactions:
Would You Drink Cocaine If Everyone Was Doing It?

Deceptively named new energy drink
There is a terrible explanation for why this drink works…
We’re seeing a resurgence in the marketing-by-controversy approach..
