Goodbye Boracay, hello reality…

After 3 days of a laid-back atmosphere, here I am again, back in the metropolis… Sigh…

My first destination was in Bacolod. And it was my first time too. If anyone of you plans to have a weekend getaway there, make sure you visit the old spanish house in Silay and also the church that was built courtesy of Mr. Danding Cojuanco.

We stayed in Business Inn hotel ( and their breakfast is good!) We also get to tour the city for half the day. And if you’re looking for a good place to eat, you can try “pala-pala” and “Bobs”… Make sure you try their inihaw and fish tempura. Yum yum!

I have nothing much to share about my Bacolod trip. Early morning, we went to Iloilo via boat, then from Iloilo we had a very draining 6-hour land trip going to Caticlan! When we finally reached Jetty Port, i felt a little relieved… Sigh… Finally, I’ll be stepping on the fine, white sands of BORA BEACH!

We checked-in somewhere in Station 1. It’s my first time in Bora so I asked a friend to take me around the must-see shops and bars. For those of you who have plans of going to Bora, I’d recommend you find a place in Station 2. Why? Read this…

First, hip bars and restos are located in Station 2. There’s Pats if you want some acoustics, Boom Boom Bar for some reggae and rNb as well, Aria and The Wave for a taste of house and techno and a whole lot more. There are also nice ones in Station 1, like the Club Paraw, Pier 1, And Cocomangas.

Second, if you’re into shopping and stuffs, D’ Mall is located in Station 2 as well. There is also the D’ Talipapa where you can opt to buy suvenir items, pasalubong, swimwears, food etc. For a shoppaholic, this is the best place to drool over lotsa things!

Third, if you are more of a food person, you can find all types of Cuisine here. From Native to Oriental to European and Mediterranean, lotsa fine dining restos in Station 2, specifically at D’ Mall.

Fourth, after a night of partying, you can sit down and have a cup of coffee at La Soliel. Nice place and cozy as well. Actually, there’s a lot of coffee shops around the place that you can check out as well.

Last, the hotels are really really great. Like the Red Coconut and the Beach Chalets, I’d really love to check-in to one of those hotels. Their rates aren’t that bad, and facilities are great. For Red Coconut, aside from being near the bars and all, they’ve got a pool where you can take a dip of you’ve had too much of salt water. For Beach Chalets, it’s more of a “nature oriented” place to check-in. They’ve got 26 cottages and each having a water dispenser that you may use, and it’s also near the bars and shopping booths.

But there are also good stuffs in Station 1, like the Fridays, Bora Place, Willies Hotel, Pier 1, Club Paraw, Cocomangas Nigi-Nigi Bar, Waling Waling etc.. Anyting will do, still it’s bora you know! And besides, you got a 1.6 kilometer strech to choose from.. Whew!

My visit to Bora was really a perfect timing because it was then when San Miguel, Smart and MTV were having an event. As we would all expect, lots of celebrities just roam around the beach (who cares?). Different bands like Hale, MYMP and some rock bands are also at the MTV event. My 2nd day there isn’t that bad at all. :)

We also went island hopping and snorkeling. We went to Crystal Cove, Poca Beach, Nami Resort and Crocodile Island. Although their Coral Garden is not as nice as the one’s in Galera, it’ll do.

I don’t really drink that much. But yes, I do smoke, ocassionallly. I was surprised that West Ice there is really cheap (around 45 bucks only!) as compared here. I only tried their Bora Daiquiries and the Sex on the Beach (not the real one ayt?). Love em’!

Well, some info might not be that accurate, but my stay in Bora is something to remember. I get to meet some people as well, mostly foreigners. It’s no wonder why lots of foreigners love BORA! It surely captured my heart. It took my mind away from chaos for awhile. No traffic, no pollution, no MMDA’s, no giants bus, no MRT, no LRT, no tall buildings… You’ve got nothing, except the beach and pure solitude. Today, Im back in my room, writing for you guys about my great adventure at Bora.

It’s a good thing that the Philippines have this kind of place for people who needs to unwind (like me). This is something that we, Filipinos should be proud of.
